Description: Notch 1 is a protein encoded by the NOTCH1 gene which is approximately 272,5 kDa. Notch 1 is localised to the cell membrane. It is involved in the notch signalling pathway and Notch 2 activation and transmission of signal to the nucleus. It functions as a receptor for membrane-bound ligands Jagged1, Jagged2 and Delta1 to regulate cell-fate determination. Upon ligand activation through the released notch intracellular domain it forms a transcriptional activator complex with RBPJ/RBPSUH and activates genes of the enhancer of split locus. Notch 1 is expressed in most adult tissues but is found mainly in lymphoid tissues. Mutations in the NOTCH1 gene may result in aortic valve disease and Adams-Oliver syndrome. STJ90066 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of fragment of activated Notch 1 protein resulting from cleavage adjacent to V1754. |
